Making the Adhan
Calling the Muslims to the obligatory prayer
Qur'an
And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement. That is because they are a people who do not use reason.

O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

Hadith
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "If the people knew the reward for pronouncing the Adhan and for standing in the first row (in congregational prayers) and found no other way to get that except by drawing lots they would draw lots, and if they knew the reward of the Zuhr prayer (in the early moments of its stated time) they would race for it (go early) and if they knew the reward of 'Isha' and Fajr prayers in congregation, they would come to offer them even if they had to crawl."
Mu'awiyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: "The Mu'adhdhinun (callers to prayer) will have the longest necks on the Day of Resurrection."
Abu Hurairah narrated that Allah's Messenger said:
"The Imam is answerable and the Mu'adh-dhin is entrusted. O Allah! Guide the Imams and pardon the Mu'adh-dhins."
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When the Adhan is pronounced Satan takes to his heels and passes wind with noise during his flight in order not to hear the Adhan. When the Adhan is completed he comes back and again takes to his heels when the Iqama is pronounced and after its completion he returns again till he whispers into the heart of the person and makes him remember things which he did not recall before the prayer, causing him to forget how much he has prayed."
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said:
"Whoever calls the Adhan for twelve years, he will be guaranteed Paradise, and for each day sixty Hasanat (good deeds) will be recorded for him by virtue of his Adhan, and thirty Hasanat by virtue of his Iqamah."
It was said that this means that they will be the people who most expect the mercy of Allah, because the one who is expecting something cranes his neck to see what he is longing for. Or it may refer to the abundance of what they will see of reward. An-Nadr ibn Shamil said: When the sweat comes up to people's faces on the Day of Resurrection, they will crane their necks lest that torment and sweat reach them. And it was said that it means that they will be masters and leaders, as the Arabs describe leaders as having long necks. And it was said that it means they will have more followers. Ibn Al-Arabi said: it means the people who have the most good deeds to their credit. Al-Qadi Iyad and others said: some of them narrated it as I'naqan, meaning that they will be the swiftest to enter Paradise.
